Merging Photography with Sketch Characteres

I found this picture interesting because of the contrast of the reality of the hands and the animated figures. I also really like the colors and how it looks as if the playing cards are glowing. The first thing you need to do is select a photo for your background. Next you need to doodle some characters to put into the photo. If you need to wrap something around the photo, use a lightbox or tracing paper to draw what it is you wish to fit to the photo. Once you've finalized your characters and all other drawings, scan it into the computer. Once scanned, you need to use the Magic Wand tool to take out the white around the figures. Now copy each figure onto a different layer of the photo. Now create a new layer to do all the coloring of the picture. There's a number of tools and tips to use for coloring including, the Magis Wand tool, Paint Bucket tool, and creating a number of different layers for changing the saturation levels and lighting. For the shadows, you need to create a new layer, use the Eyedropper tool to get the exact color of the existing shadow. With a large soft brush, you just paint the figure's shadows into the picture. Most if these steps are done on different layers. On a new layer, to add the blue and pink for the atmoshpere, use a large soft brush to paint it in. I leanred quite a bit from this tutorial, lots about what tools to use and when and how to create a sense of atmoshpere in the pictures.
